Step 9 of 12 · Ch 7
9. Mach3 dry-run
Chapter 7 everyday ops: load, zero, dry run with torch disabled.
Use a dry test whenever a live arc is not required — plasma power off or torch-firing output safely disabled.
Never bypass the emergency stop, limit circuit, charge pump, enclosure interlock, or protective earth to keep production running.
1. Load and inspect
2. Dry run
Torch disabled and Z raised when practical. Watch path, clearance, cable travel, and return position. Be ready with Feed Hold, Stop, or physical E-stop.
Warning: Do not confuse machine coordinates with work coordinates. Soft limits need a valid home first.
3. Proma before live cut (overview)
Chapter 8: record Proma values; prove dir with tSt (plasma off); keep active correction OFF for the baseline voltage cut. Baselines: SPE 97–98, d-t 0.9–1.0 s, H-U 200 V; dir often −1 but verify.
