Appendix D
Quick fault index
Customer statement → first safe check. Routing backbone from Appendix D.
⚠ Caution — One change at a time
Record the starting condition, make one controlled change, and test again. Restore the original setting if the change did not help.
⚠ Caution — Dry test first
Use a dry test whenever a live arc is not required — plasma power off or torch-firing output safely disabled.
Symptom
You are not sure which category matches the failure.
Quick checks
- ☐Write the exact symptom in one sentence
- ☐Note when it last worked and what changed
- ☐Note whether it fails on jog, dry run, torch signal, or live cut
Fix
Route by statement
Match the statement, then open the guided flow or article. Machine-specific wiring overrides generics.
- Nothing moves → Motion: Reset/status, UC100 LEDs, E-stop/limit, control power
- One axis dead → Motion: drive, connector, cable, binding, profile
- Wrong distance → Motion: repeated measured move; profile vs mechanics
- Gantry crooked → Motion: stop; both drive sides + slave
- UC100 not found / Sync Error → Software/PC (+ Noise if at arc start)
- Torch does not fire / pilot only → Won't cut
- Torch dives / climbs / dashes → Torch height (THC)
- Heavy slag / bevel / incomplete → Cut quality
- Parts wrong size / holes last → Shape/accuracy or CAD/CAM
- Random limit/disconnect at firing → Grounding/noise
